This fund was created by the Farber/Spanbauer family in memory of our beloved brother and son, Alan Bee Farber. Growing up, our family didn’t have much in the way of money, but our parents were determined to give us a life rich in experiences, values, and community. One of the most cherished parts of that life was Jewish summer camp. Through scholarships, Alan and Lori were able to attend sleepaway camp, where they learned and lived Jewish values — Tikkun Olam: Repairing the World, Chesed: Lovingkindness, and Talmud Torah: Lifelong Learning — while building deep friendships and enjoying the beauty of the great outdoors.
Alan passed away in 1987 at the age of 30. In his honor, we established this fund to “pay it forward” — to help children who might not otherwise have the means to attend Jewish camp, so they too can experience the magic we knew so well.
Summer 2025 The Alan Bee Camp Fund introduced 6 children to Jewish Summer Camp.
